St Martins House
Conference Centre
As part of the Café No:7 project we carried out on behalf of St Martins House, we were asked by the client to give their Conference Centre a fresh, new look. Like the café, this venue, located in Leicester's city centre, was in need of an upgrade ahead of its reopening in May 2021. Helping the client transform their interior into a stylish and welcoming environment for group gatherings and corporate meetings, we redesigned three of the building’s conference rooms and reception area with contemporary comfort in mind.
Our primary focus was the Bardsley Room, which required a complete refurb. Paying special attention to the client's needs for this room, we came up with a functional, inviting and elegant design, which blended the room's protected features with some key upgrades. By swapping out the old flooring for a herringbone-effect timber vinyl perimeter, with a quality inset carpet; repainting the period wall panelling a tranquil earthy green; adding glamourous sputnik chandeliers and tan leather armchairs, we created a timeless and luxurious meeting space. We also included a credenza unit to fulfil the tea/coffee cravings of the end user.
Giving the other conference rooms a new lease on life, we chose a neutral colour palette with contrasting furnishings and updated LED lighting fixtures, making the space look and feel larger and brighter. Maximising each room's potential, we designed bespoke storage cabinets to reduce clutter and give the room a more seamless feel. These featured small display units for plants and biophilia to soften the room, a tea/coffee section with plenty of storage options for crockery, glassware etc., and a push catch-style in-built cloakroom for keeping outerwear out of sight. Tying everything together and providing visitors with a pleasant waiting area, we updated the reception with sleek furniture pieces.
